The Mary and Jeff Bell Library houses a collection of approximately 1,035,000 books, bound periodical titles and microforms and state and federal documents. The Library subscribes to over 3,300 electronic subscriptions, provides electronic access to library resources, has a strong media collection and has major collections of South Texas books and archival material.
Once known as the "University Library", it was built from a contribution by Howard E. and Mary Holdsworth Butt, Sr. The library was located in the round building, which is the present day Student Services Center.
The name and location was later changed to honor Mary and Jeff Bell, both of whom contributed much to our university. The library houses our extensive book and papers collection, as well as a microcomputer lab for the college of business.
